Innovation in Cultural Heritage: 3DR projects at the Study Day!

On December 5th, 3D Research took part in the event Study Day: Digital Twin for Heritage. Present and Future of Cultural Heritage Digitization, organized by the Department of Architecture | Roma Tre University.

The event offered an important opportunity for dialogue between institutions, research centers, and universities on the topic of 3D digitization of Cultural Heritage and on initiatives aimed at sharing 3D data through web platforms.

The company presented some of its ongoing projects, including DIGI-CULT CAMP (think and live DIGItal with CULTural heritage training CAMP) and MINERVA (Museum INteractive Exhibitions using Virtual Reality, Advanced AI, and Gamification).

The first project was presented through a talk entitled: “DIGI-CULT CAMP: current state of digital literacy in cultural and creative organizations in the national context.” During the presentation, the results of the State of the Art (SoTA) analysis were shared: the research, carried out through roundtables, focus groups, interviews, and review of scientific literature, investigated the digital skills within the sector. By involving a representative sample of cultural and creative organizations operating in various fields, the study provided a detailed overview of digital competencies in the national context.

In addition, the main activities of the project were highlighted, including the free Training Camp and the final Hackathon-style event, designed to promote innovation and collaboration among participants.

Subsequently, the MINERVA project was presented, which aims to develop an integrated framework for the creation of innovative virtual exhibitions, personalized and enriched by gamification. The goal is to promote inclusiveness, accessibility, and the attractiveness of Cultural Heritage, while improving the skills of professionals and offering visitors highly immersive, engaging, and tailored experiences.

During the event, the following were showcased:

  • A virtual tour created for the Real Sito di Carditello (CE), enabling the virtual visit of digital reproductions of paintings, tapestries, and overdoor decorations that characterized the site.

  • A proof of concept of the exhibition creation tool that will be developed for the MINERVA project, allowing the customization of a virtual environment enriched with furnishings and artworks.

The meeting highlighted the role of digital technologies in the enhancement and accessibility of Cultural Heritage, emphasizing their potential for innovation and inclusivity within the sector.
