“Future Heritage: Digital Connections Between Past and Future”
- April 2, 2025
On Thursday, March 27th, the conference “Future Heritage: Digital Connections Between Past and Future” took place at Casa delle Culture in Cosenza; it was an in-depth exploration of the relationship between Cultural Heritage and digital innovation.
The event featured the participation of specialists from the creative and academic fields, both in person and remotely, shedding light on new solutions for the digitization of Cultural Heritage and offering perspectives on the role of museums in contemporary society.
The first part of the debate addressed the topic of digital transition in the Cultural industry; in particular the speech by our CTO, Marco Cozza, highlighted the importance of AI, VR and gamification as tools for heritage promotion.
During this session, two projects were illustrated: Codex 4D, coordinated by CNR-ISPC, which aims to enhance the accessibility of ancient manuscripts, and VIDE (along with its evolution VIDE Gold), a multi-site exhibition that showcases local heritage through advanced graphic animation technologies.
It’s also essential to mention MUSAS and AMPHITRITE, presented by Barbara Davidde (ICR), who is also the project coordinator. These projects enable the exploration of submerged sites in Bala, Egnazia, Kaulonìa and Crotone, through the 3D digitization of 120 archeological artifacts.
During the second session of the meeting, Fabio Bruno, president of 3D Research, highlighted two projects: CREAMARE and Art4sea, examples of cultural cooperation and awareness regarding the preservation of marine environments.
In conclusion, Maurizio Muzzupappa (Università della Calabria) also spoke about “Cosenza Open Incubator” , a hub located in the historic centre of the city that supports innovative cultural and tourism companies engaged in urban regeneration projects.
